Chicago Ideas Week is fast approaching. Described as “100 Speakers. 7 Days. 1 Electrified City,” Chicago will be hosting a multitude of great thinkers during October 10 - 16. Each topic and event will be focused on trying to “create an ecosystem of innovation, exploration, and intellectual recreation.” Created by Groupon cofounder Brad Keywell, “[he] saw a need for a great platform in the Midwest that helps connect thinkers and doers."

Do you run this city? As in, do you spend countless miles on the lakefront path, either training for the marathon or running to work? Do you spend hours on the basketball court, practicing your skills? Each person plays an integral role in this city and Niketown wants to honor these individuals that #ownchicago.

October 6th will see the 85^th annual fashion show presented by the Women’s Board of Rush University, but even though the event has been going on for 8 decades, it definitely shows no signs of old age. In fact, this year’s show “LAYERS” presents a decidedly modern take on fashion. A “who’s who” of volunteer models will walk down the runway wearing designs from some of the best names in fashion including: Frances Heffernan, The Lake Forest Shop, Loro Piana, Luca Luca, Neapolitan, p.45, Penny's From Heaven, Ralph Lauren, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tory Burch and Valentino.

Keeping up with the latest fashion could really be a full-time job! Styles come and go with the seasons and beauty trends never really last. I'm a jeans and a tshirt kind of guy, but if I had to say there is one thing that never goes out of style, it would be quality time with friends and loved ones.

It’s almost October…the crisp air of Fall is here, the leaves begin to change colors, and before you know it Halloween will be here! As soon as October 1^st hits people start panicking about what they are going to dress up as and want to go to haunted house to scream at the top of their lungs in fear. Luckily, a new Halloween Experience is on its way to Chicago- Fear City!

Make way for the “sport of kings” this weekend. Beach chairs, towels, and volleyballs will be replaced with horses when the first Chicago Beach Polo World Cup makes its way to North Avenue Beach on October 1st & 2nd. Athletes from around the world will be in the Windy City looking for a win. “The two-day international polo tournament will host a field of eight teams. Four teams will compete in World Cup play while four women's teams will compete for the North Beach Women's Polo Cup.”

Back in 1986, a high school wise guy came to Chicago and stirred things up a bit. People danced in the streets and Wrigley Field was taken over by three juvenile delinquents - all for a day off. Now, 25 years later, the legend of Ferris Bueller lives on.

Everyone from Chicago knows the story: In October of 1871, a huge fire blazed through the city of Chicago, destroying everything in its path. It was probably caused by infamous O'Leary cow. But whatever the reason, from out of the ashes, Chicago arose a new, bigger and better than ever. Now, coinciding with the 140th anniversary of the Chicago Fire, the Lookingglass Theatre is inviting Chicagoans to take a deeper look inside this infamous event with the play The Great Fire.

Pick a topic - any topic. Now, with a group of your friends, create a comedy sketch and a song to go with it. You have 1 minute. GO. Not the easiest task. It takes a special person with talent to accomplish such a goal... and have it be funny. Living in the city of Chicago, we have our pick of comedy troupes and clubs. We even have entire organizations dedicated to the craft, such as Second City and iO. With such a great pool of individuals out there willing to share their passion with audiences, don’t you think we deserve to laugh at them and with them?
