The Muscular Dystrophy Association, along with the Madden Family and the 2015 A Toast to life Planning Committee invite supporters of ALS awareness and research initiatives to attend this event. For the past six decades, MDA has dedicated almost $325 million to ALS research and healthcare services, making it the world leader in funding ALS research. In February 2007, this ALS fundraiser officially became A Toast to Life, and was held at Durkin’s Tavern in Chicago. In its first year, A Toast to Life raised $10,000 for MDA. Since then, the event has moved from Enclave to Park West and has raised over $500,000 in the past eight years for ALS research. A Toast to Life attracts over 350 guests annually, many of which have had their own experiences with the disease. Since 2009, A Toast to Life has awarded individuals who have dedicated their time and funds towards the fight against ALS with the Ben Byer ALS Awareness Award. At this year’s event, Mesirow Financial will be honored for their amazing contribution to ALS research with their Ice Bucket Challenge this past year. The event will also feature Eric Von Schaumburg and his journey with ALS over the past years.
