the new rockit bar & grill is open! April 28, 2009 Proud to announce we are opening our second rockit bar and grill across the street from wrigley field tonight! The staff is so great and training went so well that we found ourselves ready earlier than thought- so opening early- at least most of it- saving sidewalk café for may 6th. It is a beautiful restaurant w/ the same menu as the one in river north that helped us earn the “best restaurant” award at the 2008 rna awards (and of course the same burger that got “best burger” in the country on good morning america!). As someone born, raised and still living in the lakeview area, I personally (like most) have been dying for more quality restaurants and food options in the neighborhood- and I know the consistent all American rockit quality comfort food, service, atmosphere,… combined with our friendly neighbor approach… is a perfect fit. Cannot wait for you to enjoy it! Call 773.645.4400 for lunch/dinner/brunch reservations… oh, and it is at 3700 N. Clark! (Clark & Waveland) www.rockitbargrill.com Funny. I will never forget, walking around the city jobless (between circus and le passage) 7 years ago w/ my partner brad young looking for a home for this rockit idea/concept that we had come up with… that did not exist anywhere at the time- ya, I said it- playing…. rock music in a nicer designed restaurant space (in this case by oprah’s nate berkus) delivering high end service and quality food in a comfortable form at a medium affordable price… signature items like the kobe burger, signature fixtures like the antler chandeliers, design themes like the wood/steel/cement combos,… you know, the things you have seen copied by a lot of other places since then (not naming any names of course)… (and don’t mean in a mean way, supposedly biggest form of flattery, and sign that it was all in line with demand) anywho, we settled on a slightly beat up street at the time with lots of empty store fronts called hubbard in river north where we found a vacant x-lamp factory space with broken windows and a big hole in the floor… and turned it into the wonderful award winning restaurant and communal favorite gathering place that it is today…. All thanks to the wonderful support from friends and guests like you… sincerely, we all thank you for letting us serve you… back to rockit Wrigley- for those of you that are not fans of the cubs and/or the traffic the crowds create, obviously we will be challenged by all the people crossing the street before and after the games- but know this- we will always stick to our core and focus on serving the best food around providing comfort and happiness to our most loyal guests like you! (hint hint, come sit for a meal with us when the cubs are off!!! like tonight and tomorrow— see ya there!) 10 Responses Dolan Geiman April 28, 2009 Congrats on the opening and thanks for the opportunity to be involved in the second RBG location.
