GET INVOLVED! Glass Slipper Project, a non-profit organization giving every girl the opportunity to be Cinderella! April 29, 2013 HEY CHICAGO HEY!! I’m Jeni Gawlik here to talk PROM. Do you remember prom? It’s THE BIGGEST event of high school, right? Stretch limos, fancy ballrooms, live DJs, kings and queens, and MOST IMPORTANTLY the opportunity to dress to impress– GORGEOUS dresses and GQ tuxes! It’s a time for fun and a night to remember. With all that being said, the cost of prom can be extremely pricey. This is where I’d like to introduce an organization I believe is very worthy of your time. The Glass Slipper Project is a non-profit organization that gives that chance for teenage girls to dress to impress. The organization gives away free prom dresses (new or slightly worn) along with accessories and make-up to high school girls in the Chicago area who are unable to purchase their own. Prom attire is distributed at makeshift boutiques, where each girl has a unique experience and receives individual assistance from a volunteer. In other words, it allows teenage girls to have the GORGEOUS dress they’ve always dreamed of. You might be asking, “How can I help?” Here’s some more info. Not only does this organization benefit those high school girls, but it’s also a great way to give back to the community. This is an excellent opportunity to volunteer (set-up, clean up, “shop” with the girls, sewing and alterations, check in/out) and donate (dresses, purses, accessories, and make-up). I’d encourage anyone who has a little extra time to spend it with these girls. It gives them the ability to leave memorable imprints in the last years of their high school careers. Check out the website for available dates to help or how and where to drop off donations. -Jeni Gawlik 3 Responses Cynthia Estrada May 1, 2014 Do you have any dates available for girls to still find a dress?
