Being Charitable in Your 20’s with Cruise Chicago for a Cause

For the past few years I have been involved with Susan G. Komen 3 Day Event (a 60 mile walk spanning over 3 days). Since 2008 our team has raised over $75,000 towards the cause. I thought, hey, I’m doing my part, right? But, breast cancer just scratches the surface. On top of illnesses and disease, our nation, even our city of Chicago, faces serious issues with bullying and cruelty, poverty, gangs, unclean water, sex trafficking, the woes in this world are incredible and like most 20-somethings, actually, like most middle-class Americans, these causes were not affecting me.

Wrist Wishes: Combining a Love of Charity & Fashion

Fashion, charity and hope; that’s what Wrist Wishes is all about. I'm Nicole LaCross and I started Wrist Wishes in August 2012 after my mom successfully beat breast cancer for the second time. I was so inspired by her strength and positive attitude that I wanted to give back to our inspiring Chicagoland community. I started to research various local organizations and realized there were so many inspirational people locally who had dedicated their lives to giving back to a community that gives so much to those in need. I wanted to be a part of this community.

Tickled Pink: Party for a Good Cause Benefiting Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization

Today, everyone has been affected by breast cancer in some way; for me it was my cousin Carrie Kenney. Carrie was a fun-loving, young woman who was diagnosed at the very young age of 27 and looked to Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization for support. After she lost her battle in 2004, I was determined to make a contribution to the organization that had given so much to my cousin when she needed it the most. To date, Tickled Pink has raised over $800,000 for Y-ME and hopes to reach the goal of $1 million by 2013!
