This interest in movies is not an out-of-the-blue pipe dream. For many years he has been friends with and says he has learned much from such actor pals as David Schwimmer. He credits the local director, teacher and actress Joyce Piven with "giving me the basics" and he has for some time been taking acting lessons with Doug McDade, a longtime ensemble member of Shattered Globe Theatre.

In a couple of weeks, one of the most exciting events in Chicago is going to be held and for a great cause. The Junior Council will be hosting their 28th Annual Snowball, a black tie event hosting 2,000 young professionals for a night of dancing, drinking, eating and socializing while raising money for the Infectious Disease Clinic at the children's hospital. It's a great opportunity for networking, making new friends and supporting a cause that will give kids a chance at life when they may not have had one before. We promise this is a night you will NOT forget!

My name is Jon Landan (Some of you may know me as one of The Landan Twins) & I just wanted to share with you a fun party that my friends & I have been throwing for the past 16 years. A group of us always got together on Xmas-Eve before we celebrated Christmas or Hanukah with our families in Chicago.

It has been about three plus years since I’ve stopped pouring drinks at Underground, Chicago’s hottest nightclub, and working for Billy Dec. Although I met some high profile and interesting people while bartending, I have to say I have met some profound people in my new career of teaching, since I put the bottles down. Thanks to Billy’s charitable acts and continued connection, through this blog I hope to reach even just a few people to share a woman’s remarkable story about love and loss and how she has been able to turn her grief into heroism.

This Saturday, Sept. 7th, celebrate Green Tie Ball with Chicago Gateway Green, the organization dedicated to greening and beautifying Chicago. This year marks the 22nd annual gala, and the theme is 'Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.'
