Peter Joly solo debut featuring members of Iron & Wine, The Hoyle Brothers, Ryley Walker contributor Charles Rumback November 15, 2016 Hey, Chicago- come on out to The Hideout Inn on Saturday, November 26th and help me celebrate the release of my brand new self-titled record! The Hideout was ranked one of Chicago’s 15 best live music venues this year by The Chicago Tribune, so I couldn’t be happier having them as party central for such a proud occasion! I’ve been performing and recording in Chicago since ’93 when I relocated here from Buffalo NY, and fell in love with this city’s deep musical roots and thriving original music scene- it felt perfect to me! Previous bands of mine that may ring a bell are Big Breakfast and For Pilots- releasing a combined total of three records and performing live all over the city and beyond. Perhaps we’ve met, way back in the 90’s at The Charleston Bar in Bucktown (aka “The Chuck” for those in the know) when it was still a smoky honky-tonk with a beer stained, beautiful sounding house upright piano and the best players in town taking over almost every night, making musical magic right there on the floor in the middle of the room! I sure met some terrific musicians passing through that place- many whom have become lifelong friends and colleagues. My new record is something I’m so proud of- a rich collection of poetic songs rooted in and expanding upon the lineage of the great American musical traditions of rock, country, bluegrass and roots music. Most all of the musicians who performed on the record will be playing with me at The Hideout show! Kicking things off that night will be Rachel Drew and The Bitter Roots! Rachel and her band are one of the very best roots/Americana bands out there playing these days so I’m especially excited for this show! Thanks A Chicago Thing for inviting me to guest blog, and ….I’ll see you at the show!
