Archie Griffin Named Grand Marshal For Upcoming BTN Big Ten 10K

Hey guys, I’m Ally, one of Billy’s new interns for the summer of 2014. Born, bred and educated in Illinois, I will be periodically updating you on all that Chicago has to offer!

It couldn’t be more perfect that my first blog post will be about a sporting event, that just so happens to be connected to the Big Ten Network—life is good! My passion for sports shines through almost every aspect in my life. Needless to say, I’m excited about this event!

Let’s jump right in!

The Big Ten Network has named college football’s ONLY two-time Heisman Trophy winner and Ohio State Alumni, Archie Griffin as the Grand Marshal for the BTN Big Ten 10K on July 26

“This race is truly an expression of Big Ten spirit. I love seeing fans showcasing their school pride, and I hope to see a lot of Big Ten alums competing along the lakefront.”

Last year, the world’s participation was staggering- 13,000 runners from 43 states and five countries! This year, an estimated 15,000 runners will participate in what is said to be the fastest growing summer race in Chicago.

The race will begin on Soldier Field campus and end in true Big Ten style with a tailgate party.

Race shirts will be available in all 14 Big Ten school colors, including Rutgers University and the University of Maryland.

This year’s race is likely to sell out, so make sure to register ASAP!
