Carlyle Takes the Stage at Goodman Theatre, April 2nd to May 1st March 29, 2016 Hi, Chicago! I’m Carlyle Meyers, an African American lawyer for the Republican Party. And yes you read that correctly, I am a Black Republican. I know what you’re thinking, and yes we exist…in fact, Black Republicans have been around since Abraham Lincoln…and we resurfaced this year with presidential hopeful Ben Carson (although he didn’t get very far). But this isn’t about the rest of them; it’s about me, which is why my wife, Janice and I hired playwright Thomas Bradshaw to turn my life story into a play, and I’m playing the lead! I asked my family and close friends (and a few actors) to help reenact a few pivotal life moments, which means that these performances are going to be very truthful and might provoke a bit of healthy debating. All I ask is that you buy a ticket and come with an open-mind…you might be more Republican than you think! Check out my rehearsal photos and this very cool promotional video that the Goodman’s marketing team filmed for me! Lastly, don’t forget to grab your tickets to my show—performances begin April 2 at Goodman Theatre (170 N. Dearborn) and you don’t want to miss it!
