Can you relate to dealing with a struggle of opinion, being stuck teetering on what morals and ideals you choose to support? This identifiable theme can be found, in one way or another, in many people’s lives all across the World, which is why this remarkable film by Lise Birk Pedersen is one not to miss, as she transports us over to Russia

AChicagoThing sits down with Chicago Rock Band: Filligar

Lauded as "one of the top 8 live acts in America," the Chicago-bred rock group Filligar is bursting onto the international music scene at breakneck speed. The quartet is comprised of brothers Pete (drums), Johnny (guitar, lead vocals), and Teddy Mathias (bass), along with their lifelong friend Casey Gibson (keyboard, backup vocals). Formed in 2000, the classic rock-influenced band has seen their popularity grow steadily over their young career, having toured with Counting Crows in 2012 and supporting other high-profile acts such as Alabama Shakes, the Black Keys, Otis Day and the Knights, B.o.B, and more. Filligar’s most recent album, The Nerve (2010), was met with great critical acclaim, earning them a nomination for Best Rock Album at the Independent Music Awards and drawing comparisons to a young Rolling Stones, The Doors, Kings of Leon, and the Black Keys. Filligar’s in store for another busy schedule in 2013, which will include the release of another highly anticipated full album. Common Threads Celebrates 10 Years With World Festival at Soldier Field

Hi Chicago! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Jessica Ortiz and thank Billy for his support throughout the years. Billy has been a close family friend for some time now after being a student of my dad’s at Chicago- Kent Law School. One thing I admire most about him is how much he gives back to Chicago, especially to the children. I found my place at the Chicago-based nonprofit Common Threads in 2012 and knew exactly who to contact as I quickly became a Chicago foodie. Who else puts more photos of food on social media than Mr.Dec?

Never A City So Reel

It’s no secret that we Chicagoans can’t get enough of this wonderful city we call home. What makes this city even more special is the fact we have the unique experience to be exposed to people from all different walks of life-right in our very own backyard. How many other cities across the U.S. can truly compare?
