Chicago’s Fire Hot Opera Record Release March 26, 2016 Greetings, readers! This is Kevan Eftekhari from the band Fire Hot Opera. For those of you who don’t know us, you may be asking yourself, “What is Fire Hot Opera? Is it an opera? Is it on fire? Is it hot?” Well, that’s what I’m here to explain today. We started the band way back in 2014 by playing a few shows of mostly cover songs. After a few line-up changes, we solidified our group in 2015 by starting work on our first all-original album and branding ourselves “Fire Hot Opera.” The band consists of myself on piano and vocals, Bethany Thomas on vocals, Stephanie Fravel on vocals, Danya Thompson on drums, Eric Klotz on guitar, and Richard Knapp on bass guitar. In the spring/summer of 2015 we entered IV Labs Studios here in Chicago, and began work on our LP, Test Market Fresh. The album was recorded and engineered by Chris Harden with horn arrangements by Corbin Andrick (seriously, Google these people, they’ve all done amazing work). We’ve been described as incorporating elements of doo-wop, rock and roll, soul, R&B, and even a little Broadway. But don’t take my word for it. Come see us rock out live at the Beat Kitchen on April 1! No it’s not an April Fool’s joke, it’s our official RECORD RELEASE SHOW! At the show you’ll be able to purchase a limited edition vinyl copy of Test Market Fresh. We’ll also be sharing the stage with amazing local acts such as S. Joel Norman, Josh Catalano & the Dirty Thoughts, and Nice Motor (Google them too. Google everything!). So come join us on April 1 at the Beat Kitchen, have some drinks, listen to some awesome music, and stop by the merch table to just say hi!
