Thanks for all the nice comments on twitter about this interview… it was a tough one. Btw, who cool is skype?  It’s amazing that they can just dial me up free to my hotel room and just put me on live like that… I sort of freaked on the one from russia a posted about a week ago but I had never done it before… blew my mind.

Anyway, as I said here, I truly am proud of our city, we did the best job we could. I am happy for rio and looking forward to enjoying the games there in 2016.  As for my total thoughts on the experience, too big for words for me right now, I am just happy that I was on your team.  I will be sending some final thoughts on all soon…

oh, and since I mentioned the chicago public schools’ “principal for a day” program here, I will blog about that soon too… if anyone knows of any other great programs, initiatives, volunteer work,.. that regular people like me and you can get out there and do to help… comment below and will try to integrate that in… so that everyone can actually jump in and get involved… thanks all!

Take a look at a ground-breaking, new digital concept created for Chicago’s oldest boys and girls club, Off The Street Club — http://www.offthestreetclub.org. This viral campaign invites visitors to the site to literally “take a kid off the street” by dragging animated children, via the click of their cursor, off the street and into The Club, for a mere $10 donation. By contributing to this worthy cause, donors can be assured that they’re helping kids stay off the street and away from the dangerous drugs, gangs and violence that infiltrate Chicago’s most dangerous neighborhood, West Garfield Park. Or as we have coined the campaign, “Off the Street and On to So Much More.”

    Hello Billy,

I would like to commend you on your efforts in making a difference. I am an educator on the front lines within CPS and I really luv…no.. adore my job. I teach in a low income community with many challenges. Everyday, I’m pressed on how to motivate and instill hope. It is without question, violence among minority youth has become the norm. As a result, I am forming a foundation to connect young African American males to programs that will positively mentoring opportunities. I have already decided to sponsor 10 – 20 boys in The Ray McElroy (former DB w/Bears,Colts & Lions) pro Football Youth Camp 2010. Even though, I’m in the infancy stage of establishing my foundation I am planning to host a fundraiser soon. I’m committed in helping these young people live a positive successful…to turn away from guns and violence. That’s most important. I don’t care if I have to fund the camp with my own money. I’ve already committed myself. If I don’t make a stand and TRY to DO SOMETHING to curb the senseless killing then a generation of young people will continue to use violence as the solution to their problems. This is a goal I’ve set for myself… My foundation will be the tool to help motivate and inspire these young people. If you would like to be a part, I gladly welcome anyone’s creative positive energy…Thanks a million!!!
