Don Gallardo to open for The Westies at Space in Evanston

Hello folks! My name is Don Gallardo and thank you for reading my guest post.

I am an Americana-Folk singer-songwriter based in Nashville, TN. I’ve been living in Nashville for over 8 years. I tour the UK twice a year and around the US as well.

I am from a small town in Northern California called Fairfax. I spent years building my career on the west coast before relocating to Nashville in 2008. Recent press quotes have described my music saying “He walks the line between Folk, Americana and Roots Rock, mining the influence of classic 1970s singer-songwriters while creating a sound that nods to the past while still pushing ahead toward something new.”

 I have four full-length albums, a live acoustic release, and an EP under my belt. No Depression called me a “rare gem” whose work is “highly recommended to fans of great songwriters.”

My new album Hickory was released exclusively, in 2015, by the U.K.-based Indie label Clubhouse Records. It received a four-star rating from MOJO Magazine and was mentioned in Rolling Stone multiple times.

 The project paired me up with my friend and producer David Pinkston, who has worked with many different artists such as Linda Ronstadt, Marshall Tucker Band, Greg Allman and a handful more. The album also includes A-list sidemen such as Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson), Rob Ickes (Merle Haggard), Randall Bramblett (Bonnie Raitt), Guthrie Trapp (Alison Krauss), Micah Hulscher (Emmylou Harris, Margo Price) and Brad Pemberton (Ryan Adams). The album was inspired by everything from my California upbringing to my time in the American Bible Belt. Hickory was named “one of 2015’s best country albums” by The Telegraph along with artists Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Patty Griffin, Justin Townes Earle and more. Hickory is now out in the US & Worldwide on Southern Carousel Records. The US and Worldwide digital version contains two Bonus Tracks that were recorded during the Hickory sessions. We are currently touring in support of this album.

In addition to catching one my live shows, you can hear my music prominently featured in films like “Jolene” and Jackass Presents “Bad Grandpa,” as well as the television series “The Vampire Diaries” and ABC’s “Nashville.”

I’d like to personally invite you to SPACE in Evanston, IL on Friday, September 2nd where I will be supporting The Westies, featuring Michael McDermott, with my 4-piece band. We will be performing songs from our new album, HICKORY.
