Halloween Neighborhood Guide: Wicker Park Edition

Hey guys, I’m Liz. One of Billy’s interns for the fall of 2014! Halloween is just around the corner….ok, maybe just a little closer– it’s here! No need to panic, we are doing the Halloween party planning for you. After all, you already have to worry about your costume. Let us handle the rest. Tired of the usual Halloween house party? Check out these cool Halloween celebrations in Wicker Park. The best part of it all is that they are within walking distance of each other. If you’re into good music, nightlife and fashion, Wicker Park is the place for you.

Start your Wicker Park Halloween adventure at Big Star (1531 N Damen Ave.), fuel your body for the day with Tacos al Pastor or Tacos de Chorizo Verde. On Friday’s they offer $3 whiskey shots, a good way to get stay warm.  If you’re not really into tacos, head to Blue Line Lounge & Grill (1548 N Damen Ave). They have over 32 specialty martinis on their drink menu and a special Halloween Martini, a must try. While at Blue Line, try the mini burgers and sweet potato fries, great finger food to share with friends.

After enjoying great food, you can head over to Tavern (1958 W. North Ave) for a few brews or just to dance. Tavern is the ‘it’ spot of Wicker Park, because the party at Tavern never ends. The bartenders have a surprise for all the guests that you won’t want to miss.  Not into craft beer? No problem, make your way over to Moonshine (1824 West Division Street) for their Halloween Bash. Enjoy $5 margaritas served in a Mason jar and $4 Stoli cocktails.

Ready to start the party? Head to Subterranean (2011 W North Ave) for Flashback Fridays; dance to Motown, Disco, Funk, House and much more. DJ John Simmons, Mass Transit and DJ TREW will have you gettin’ down in your costume. Early arrival is strongly suggested, doors at 10:30pm.

Don’t let the party stop at SubT’s, make your way to Evil Olive (1551 W Division St.) for ‘Trouble in Paradise’ Halloween Party.  If you’re wearing a cool costume, don’t forget to enter the Halloween costume contest for a change to win $1000 cash.  Take advantage of drink specials while listening to DJ Lex J. Mendex, Nikki X and many more. Doors open at 10pm. RSVP for no cover until 12am and reduced after.

Wicker Park has something for everyone with over 50 bars offering Halloween specials.  All of the bars are within walking distance of each other and public transportation is available via bus and train.  All you need to worry about is your costume and showing up. Happy Halloween!
