Latino Fashion Week, A Decade of Elegance

It is really hard to be successful in Chicago. While fashions isn’t something we’re looked at for, we have some really talented designers looking to push Chicago fashion on the map. We’re a bit overshadowed by New York, Miami and Los Angeles, yet we are proud of what we have accomplished thus far. Late September, Latino Fashion Week will be celebrating our 10 Year Anniversary in Chicago. A Decade of Elegance is the year’s theme and with a right of it’s won.

LFW started as a way to help those emerging, talented Latino designers who were not given the opportunity to showcase their work. Co-Founders and Producers Arabel Rosales and Cesar Rolon has been the driving force behind this project and it’s success. Using LFW as a platform, the designers are exposed to national and international press, definitely receiving local, national and international support from this medium.

The same way can be said about the international designers invited each year to be a part of the LFW phenomenon. Heavy hitters like Spain’s Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Mexico’s Paco Mayorga, Tamakasi, Pineda Covalin, Peru’s Yirko Sivirich, Colombia’s Argenio Sierra, just to name a few, designers have graced our runways.

This year promises to be another great year. We have the best of the best and an exhibit runway presentation from Puerto Rico’s History Council. Benito Santos who is one of the top designers from Mexico. Edgar Lozzano who’s evening wear is pure elegance.
