Skender Foundation presents Third Annual Summer Eclipse to Benefit Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts) July 1, 2014 Greetings, everyone! I’m Angela, an intern for Billy Dec this summer and I’m super stoked to share some cool content and fill you in on some fantastic events happening around the city. One of the most epic qualities about Chicago is our diverse range of expressive flair and creative expertise. If you have an eye (or ear) for it, art is everywhere! Even if you don’t, we want to show you what it’s all about. Mark your calendars and prepare to head over to Underground for Skender Foundation’s third annual Summer Eclipse, July 17 from 5:30-9:30pm. This event will help raise funds for Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts), Chicago’s first public high school dedicated to performing and visual arts. Think of all those talented students! ChiArts students come from all over the city and 55% of the student body comes from low income households. Participants in the school’s rigorous program attend five hours of academic classes and three hours of arts training per day. However, the arts program is currently only supported by contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations. Since 2012, Skender Foundation has raised over $500,000 for more than 50 charitable organizations. Foundation chairman Cheryl Skender reveals, “Seeing people, who might not otherwise have the support they need, on the road to success is really what it’s all about.” The evening will include a premium bar, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction, all complimented by performances and art displays by ChiArt students. Tickets for Summer Eclipse may be purchased online at www.skenderfoundation.com or you can call 312.994.3800 Come on out for a little inspiration and help provide to a neat cause!
