Snowball event at navy pier to benefit children's memorial hospital January 7, 2011 As a kid, I shared a yard playing w/ the children who came from all over the country to stay w/my next door neighbor, the ronald mcdonald house, between their treatments at the world renowned children’s memorial hospital. Back then I never understood why my little friends would have serious disabilities, illness & eventually have to leave me, but as soon as I reached the right age, it was all explained to me, and my life was changed forever. Among being thankful for what I have, and wanting to help put smiles on kids (& adults) who could use a little comfort, care, friendship & happiness, I particularly gained a ton of respect & admiration for the children’s memorial hospital for all they do in those same areas and more. With that, I’m turning you all on to a very cool party called the 23rd annual 2011 snowball, hosted by the junior council of children’s memorial hospital. This super fun black tie event will be held in navy pier’s grand ballroom on february 5, 2011. join over 1,000 of chicago’s most active, caring, movers & shakers.. for an evening of great food, drinks, live music, silent auction & more. I also suggest you join them at the underground on January 14, 2011 for the snowball kickoff party to meet a ton of great people, and to get involved early. for more info & tickets, visit http://www.cmh-juniorcouncil.org/snowball2011 founded in 1988, the junior council is made up of young professionals from all over the chicagoland area and supports the pediatric & adolescent AIDS & HIV programs. their purpose is to create awareness in our communities to ensure all children with HIV/AIDS, regardless of their ability to pay, have access to high-quality pediatric healthcare. children’s memorial hospital is the only freestanding hospital that treats only kids in illinois and the region¹s top provider of pediatric specialty care. in 2010, they served over 146,000 children. the HIV/AIDS services and grants rely heavily on the funds from grants and private donations. their fundraisers specifically support the pediatric, adolescent and maternal HIV infection and have raised over $800,000. the junior council meets on a month basis, check them out to get involved or find out more information.
