social media is taking over!

If you don’t know the level at which it is taking over, watch this video now.  Yup, revolutionizing the entire game… and as an entertainment entrepreneur, marketer, fellow consumer & regular person who likes to communicate… I’m freaking out about it because I know that regardless of how busy I am, if I don’t figure out this new beast social media and its rapid evolution quick, it will leave me in the dust to play catch up in a whole other place in the world that I rather not be.

Oddly enough, I am on the cover of crain’s business this week talking about using social media for work… not speaking as an expert in the field of social media, just showing how I am integrating social media into my world, as the new format or approach, I think is now required to become or remain successful.  And thank god the social media world is a giving kind so that when I have asked for help thus far, there has been a wonderful, positive and I think even inherent, sharing of information, quickly.

Or is that in part just a Chicago thing?  I mean, not only are Chicagoans nice people who help each other, but I was excited to find that some of the worlds most advanced social media interactive marketers are located right here in chicago- being that all the greatest advertising/pr firms have been located here forever- who all btw have totally had to change their game to integrate major amounts of social media into their culture & services as well (Wonder if we will keep calling them “advertising” firms?).  anyway, It’s all changing fast, it’s critical to understand it, and I just wanted to share if weren’t totally aware as I wasn’t a short time ago… that and to let you know that chicago is full of talent in this area and I have found are very willing to help us newcomers… best wishes to all!
