Working in the Schools Chicago Hosts Mardi Gras Blackboard Affair Masquerade Ball February 24, 2014 Hi everyone! Shannon Rischow here. I’m a volunteer for Working in the Schools (WITS) and I also serve on the WITS Associate Board. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love to read. Although my recent selections tend to be more of the Goodnight Moon variety, I became involved in WITS to share my passion for literature and for the personal/professional benefits it provides when I mentor a CPS elementary student. Each year, for one exciting evening, the magic of Mardi Gras travels north to Chicago for the Blackboard Affair Masquerade Ball. Don your mask and creative black tie and dance the night away while enjoying the live DJ and a premium open bar featuring Tito’s Vodka and Chicago’s own Revolution Beer. Hors d’oeuvres will be crafted by Food for Thought along with sweet treats from Magnolia Bakery. This hometown spin on the festivities includes another Chicago favorite – a late night Vienna Beef Hot Dog cart. And don’t miss the chance to win some amazing prize packages in the evening’s silent auction and raffle! Join in the fun at the Chicago Cultural Center Preston Bradley Hall (78 East Washington) on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 7:30-11:30pm. Tickets can be purchased here: https://witschicago.thankyou4caring.org/bba-2014. This event benefits Working in the Schools (WITS), a local organization that promotes literacy and a love of learning in Chicago Public School elementary students through a volunteer-powered, outcomes-based portfolio of programs. Also, Billy Dec is giving away 1 pair of tickets to our Blackboard Masquerade Ball! Click here to enter to win the tickets! Your support helps empower Chicago’s youth. Laissez les bons temps rouler indeed. – Shannon Rischow, WITS volunteer at Andrew Carnegie Elementary School (Hyde Park) and WITS Associates Board member Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYour email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* Website Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
