Giving new meaning to the term “au natural,” flowers are the fashion at the haute couture FLEUROTICA fashion show, featured at this year’s Evening in Bloom preview party for the Chicago Flower & Garden Show. Fittingly, this green-is-good event takes place on Friday, March 17 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Navy Pier.

Evening in Bloom is a first look at the 2017 Chicago Flower & Garden Show and benefits three nonprofit organizations: the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, Pilot Light and Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

The FLEOURITCA fashion show is presented by the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, which inspires, educates and provokes exploration through innovative programs and experiences in one of the nation’s largest and finest historic conservatories.  Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Ms. Amy Rule are honorary co-chairs of this year’s FLEUROTICA.

During the fashion show, bloom-bedecked models showcase evocative, whimsical and stunning floral wear created by some of Chicago’s top floral designers, with inspiration from Chicago’s Maria Pinto.

Evening in Bloom also benefits Chicago-based  Pilot Light, a nonprofit organization that helps children make healthier choices by connecting the lessons they learn in their classrooms to the foods they eat, as well as the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, which encourages and supports Illinois residents committed to pursuing careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry.

As they get a unique preview of the Chicago Flower & Garden Show, party-goers will enjoy musical entertainment, sample E&J Gallo fine wines, New Amsterdam specialty cocktails and tastings from the city’s top chefs, including noted culinary professionals from the Illinois Restaurant Association.

Tickets to Evening in Bloom and FLEUROTICA are $150 and may be purchased at www.chicagoflower.com. The Chicago Flower & Garden Show is open to the public from March 18-26.
